When embarking on the journey to create your dream custom kitchen in Miami, accurate measurements are crucial. At Italvave, we pride ourselves on our meticulous attention to detail, ensuring every project is flawlessly executed. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to measure your kitchen like a pro, with insights into our comprehensive approach.
Step-by-Step Kitchen Measurement Guide
Sketch Space
If some of the steps are too difficult, just sketch your space with as much measurements as you can. Photos that go along with the sketch are very helpful!
Measure Wall to Wall
Start by measuring the full length of each wall in your kitchen. Use a tape measure, and ensure it’s level for accuracy. Record the measurements in inches for precision.
Measure Appliances
Measure the dimensions of all your existing appliances: width, height, and depth. Don’t forget to account for space needed for appliance doors to open fully. This is critical for ensuring your new design accommodates your current or future appliances perfectly.
Identify Utilities
Locate and measure the placement of all utilities, including plumbing, gas lines, and electrical outlets. These are essential for planning where appliances and fixtures will be positioned in your new kitchen.
Mark Windows & Doors
Measure from the floor to the bottom and the top of each window and door. Also, measure the width and height of these openings. Note the swing direction of doors, as this impacts the layout.
Identify Obstructions
Identify and measure any obstructions like radiators, pipes, vents, or columns. These elements can affect where cabinets and appliances can be placed.
Measure for Countertops and Cabinets
Measure the height from the floor to the ceiling, the depth of countertops, and the height where upper cabinets will be installed. Ensure to note any variations in ceiling height, as these affect the design and installation.
